Summary
Fumaria officinalis has been studied for its potential to mitigate myocardial ischemia and arrhythmias in canine models [PMID:7392390].
Background
Common fumitory is a weed species that can serve as an epiphytic host for Pseudomonas viridiflava [PMID:30856926].
Active compounds
The herb contains a sum of alkaloids [PMID:7392390].
Clinical evidence
Evidence DMyocardial ischemia and arrhythmias
In canine experiments, preliminary injection of fumitory alkaloids (1-2 mg/kg) prevented or reduced ischemic shifts, and a 5.2 mg/kg dose relieved rhythm disorders for 20 to 87 minutes [PMID:7392390].
Evidence summary
Evidence is limited to animal models (canine) and botanical surveys; no human clinical trials are provided.
