Erythrina variegata L. (also known as Erythrina indica or Tiger's Claw) is a thorny deciduous tree of the Fabaceae family distributed in tropical and subtropical regions worldwide, including India, China, Eastern Africa, and Northern Australia [PMID:31600560, PMID:21281246, PMID:22228954].
Usages traditionnels
Traditionally used as a nervine sedative, anxiolytic, and anti-convulsant [PMID:31600560, PMID:22228954]. Other traditional applications include use as a collyrium for opthalmia, antiasthmatic, antiepileptic, antiseptic, astringent, and for the treatment of diabetes mellitus [PMID:22228954, PMID:21281246]. In Thai traditional medicine, it is used in the Mahanintangthong (antipyretic) and Lomammapruek (analgesic and anti-inflammatory) remedies [PMID:29926696].
