Artemisia lactiflora
Artemisia ornementale d'Asie utilisée en médecine traditionnelle chinoise pour les troubles menstruels et la stagnation hépatique.
Artemisia lactiflora, a perennial herb in the Asteraceae family, is traditionally used in Chinese medicine to regulate menstrual cycles and address liver Qi stagnation. Its primary active compounds include sesquiterpenes, flavonoids, and coumarins, which contribute to its emmenagogue, anti-inflammatory, and circulatory effects.
The emmenagogue action is mediated by sesquiterpene lactones that stimulate uterine smooth muscle contraction via prostaglandin F2α receptor activation and increased oxytocin sensitivity. Flavonoids and coumarins inhibit cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) and 5-lipoxygenase (5-LOX), reducing pro-inflammatory prostaglandins and leukotrienes. Additionally, the herb enhances nitric oxide (NO) production in vascular endothelium, promoting vasodilation and improving microcirculation, which helps resolve blood stasis.
