Coptis/Berberis extract
Extrait concentré de berbérine équivalent à la métformine dans les études de glycémie sanguine.
Berberine is a bioactive alkaloid extracted from Coptis chinensis and Berberis species, standardized to berberine HCl and berberine sulfate. It is widely used for metabolic conditions including type 2 diabetes, dyslipidemia, and polycystic ovary syndrome, with clinical evidence supporting its efficacy comparable to metformin. Key mechanisms involve activation of AMPK and modulation of gut microbiota.
Berberine activates AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) by inhibiting mitochondrial complex I, reducing ATP production and increasing the AMP/ATP ratio. This leads to improved insulin sensitivity, enhanced glucose uptake, and reduced hepatic gluconeogenesis. Additionally, berberine upregulates LDL receptor expression, inhibits CYP3A4 and P-glycoprotein, and alters gut microbiota composition to favor short-chain fatty acid production.
